Grant County Fire District 10 (also known as Royal Slope Fire Rescue and EMS) provides Fire Suppression, Incident Response, and Emergency Medical Response & Transport.

We maintain a technical rescue team that responds county-wide in support of rescue and recovery operations, and we promote fire safety through education in cooperation with our local schools and community organizations.

Over the years, several mergers have helped us standardize services in our communities:

1972 — Grant County Fire District # 9
1980 — the City of Royal City
2020 — Grant County Fire District # 11, with a vote of 91%

Today, we serve a response area of over 500 square miles surrounding and including the communities of Royal City, Beverly, Schwana, Smyrna, Royal Camp, Mardon and Marine View Heights.

Royal Slope Fire Rescue and EMS is staffed with a combination of Volunteers and Career staffing. In mid-2020, we acquired a new headquarters station and maintenance facility, centrally located in the district in the Port of Royal Slope. The upgraded facility was designed to meet the current and future needs as our district continues to grow, and is supplemented by 5 additional community-based stations strategically placed throughout the balance of our district.

ABOUT THE DISTRICT:
Our community has many recreational areas to include campgrounds, historical sites and open spaces that are maintained as recreational vehicle and off-road parks. Recently an expansion of the Palouse trail included the renovation of the Beverly rail bridge. This along with our areas scenic overlooks will draw many visitors in the summer months. The Saddle Mountain recreation area offers many trails and a known location for parasailing. The Columbia River offers many people a wonderful scenic adventure. With the Potholes State Park, we see thousands of visitors each year and the surrounding recreational vehicle parks host many travelers, hunters, and fishermen.
